Alva J. Wilson, long time resident of Sheldon, passed away at his home at 9:30 Sunday evening, October 25. Alva had reached the age of 77 years, five months and 25 days.

Alva the son of John and Mary E. Wilson, was born May 4, 1896 at Sheldon, Iowa. He attended country school and Sheldon grade school. He worked as a drayman and mill worker in Sheldon.

On November 27, 1902 he was united in marriage to Maude Grapes at Sheldon. They made their home in Sheldon for one year. They then moved to Westbrook, MN where they resided until 1905. They then moved back to Sheldon where he lived the rest of his life.

Alva was a member of the Methodist church and the Odd Fellows lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Maude; six daughters, (Florence) Mrs. Lester Miller of Sheldon; (Vivian) Mrs. Tom Faul of Oswego, IL; (Velma) Mrs. Carl Brandes of Waterloo, IA; (Avis) Mrs. Ed Kroon of West Jordan, UT; (Lavonne) Mrs. Howard Smith of Janesville, IA; (Ethel) Mrs. Glen Hoy of Sheldon; two sons, Lawrence of Minneapolis, MN and Mervin of Sheldon. Also 37 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Also three sisters, (Stella) Mrs. Ben Smith of Jefferson, IA; Mrs. Anna Glosser of Des Moines, IA and Mrs. Edith Smith of Fort Dodge, IA, and by one brother, Fred of Sheldon.

Funeral services were held at Temple mortuary Thursday, October 29 at 1:30 and at 2:00 at the Methodist church. Reverend H. C. Travis officiated.

Interment was at East Lawn cemetery in Sheldon.
