WILMA RAYMOND
1914 — 1998

Wilma M. (DeYoung) Raymond, the daughter of John and Katherlne (Muilenburg) DeYoung, was born near Sanborn, Iowa on January 10, 1914. She lived her youth and received her education at Sanborn.

She was united in marriage to Lee Raymond on June 25, 1934 at the Methodist Church at Emmetsburg, Ia. Following their marriage, they lived east of Sanborn before moving to Melvin, Ia. where they lived for 10 years. They then resided northwest of Sanborn for 10 years and later moved to Moneta where they made their home from 1950 to 1960. In 1960 they moved to Spencer, Ia. where they have since resided.

Wilma entered Longhouse Residence at Spencer on December 18,1997 and she died there on February 28. 1998 at the age of 84 years, one month and 18 days.

She is survived by her husband, Lee of Spencer her children: Wayne and Beverly Raymond of Primghar, Ia. David and Nancy Raymond of Rochester, Minn., and Judy and Arnie Sunde of Spirit Lake, Ia.: six grandchildren: five great-grandchildren: five brothers: Herman DeYoung of Hartley, John DeYoung of Melvin, Robert DeYoung of Yu-caipa, Calif., Vernie DeYoung of San Diego, Calif., and Glen DeYoung of Serra Vista, Ariz.: two sisters: Jeanette Graham of Sanborn and Dorothy Snider of Splrit Lake; many nieces, nephews, relatives and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Martin and James.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Spencer and was associated with the Moose Lodge of Spencer for many years. Wilma enjoyed knitting, crocheting, canning, playing cards, bowling and golfing. Her family and friends enjoyed her wonderful cooking expertise. Her family was a very significant part of her life and she treasured the times she could spend with her family.

Funeral services were held March 4 at Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer with Rev. Paul Hansen officiating. Casket bearers were Mike Raymond. Tom Raymond, Jerry Raymond, Rex Raymond, Lanny DeYoung and Aaron Schurz. Honorary bearers were Kendall Mead, Bill Harris, Ray Feldhacker, Del Nelson, Delbert Petersen, Don Fitzloff, and Guy Schurz. Arlene Hess man was organist. Bill Laurltzen, soloist, sang "On Eagle's Wings" and "The Lord's Prayer." Burial was in Roseland Cemetery. Sanborn, with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge.
