Mrs. Charles Beckley, a former resident of Sanborn for many years, passed away Friday, June 1, at Sioux City. She had been a patient in the Methodist Hospital there since suffering a stroke a few weeks before.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Sanborn Funeral Hume, Rev S J. Baldwin conducting the rites. Barbara Baldwin was pianist and accompanied Ruth Norton, who sang "Rock of Ages" and "I Love to Tell the Story" Casketbearers were John Mulder, B. N. Merriam. N S. Pippinger, Claude Smith, C. E. Heinsen and Earl Mayne. Burial was in Roseland Cemetery beside her husband.

Fanny Estella Cronk, daughter of Henry and Margaret Cronk, was born May 6, 1870 at Colo, Iowa. While a young woman she taught school for a few years at Cambridge, Iowa.

She married Charles Shear Beckley on June 25, 1890. They lived at Perry, Iowa for a time, then moved to Redfield, S. D., and came to Sanborn in the fall of 1901, where Mr. Beckley was employed on the railroad. Mr. and Mrs. Beckley lived here until his death June 1, 1934 Mrs. Beckley then moved to Sioux City in March 1935, where she resided until her death.

The Beckleys were the parents of seven children: Blanche (Mrs. John Fyksen), deceased; Frank, Sheridan, Wyo.; Glenn, Primghar; Fay, Ware, Iowa; Lee, Grundy Center, Iowa; Bertha (Mrs. Harold Milnes), Mason City, Iowa; and Florence (Mrs. Vernon Peterson), Sioux City, Iowa.

Besides her parents, husband, and daughter. Mrs. Beckley was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Cronk, and one grandchild. Besides her six living children she is survived by fifteen grandchildren, one of whom she raised, and eleven great-grandchildren.

While living in Sanborn, Mrs. Beckley was a loyal and active member of St. Andrew's Methodist church, and at the time of her death was a member of First Methodist Church, Sioux City.

She died June 1, 1951, just 17 years from the day of her husband's passing. All of the children were here for the services except Frank, who had visited his mother shortly before her death.

Included were Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Beckley, Mr and Mrs. Robert Beckley, Mr. and Mrs Robert Pierce, of Primghar; Mr and Mrs. Fay Beckley and two children, of Ware; Mr and Mrs. Lee Berkley, Grundy Cen­ter; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Milnes, Mason City, and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Peterson, Sioux City. Also at the services was C. S. Beckley's oldest brother, Dave Beckley, of Nevada, Iowa, and other relatives from Nevada and Cambridge.
