OBITUARY OF MRS. M1LZ.

Catharine [sic] Hoeper was born April 17, 1843, at Fessendorf, on the Island of Fehmaro, Holstein, Germany.

In 1870 she was wedded to Joachim Milz. Their matrimonial life of thirty-three years was blessed with six children, four sons and two daughters, of which one son and one daughter died in Germany. In the year 1890 they emigrated to America and settled on a farm in Lincoln township, O'Brien county, Iowa, where they have since resided.

In the morning of February 3. 1904, at 1:30 she ended her earthly journey, having suffered a paralytic stroke the evening before, from the effects of which she never rallied. She leaves to mourn her death a husband, three sons at home and a daughter in the old country. Also a sister at Buffalo, North Dakota and a brother in Germany.

The funeral was held from the residence Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. Wm. Vehe having charge of the services.

NOTE: I have no idea why the obituary lists her as Catherine. Please note the death notice correctly identifies her as Gertrude which agrees with all other records. ja
