Mrs. Bertha Storm Passed Away Thurs.

Mrs. Ferdinand Storm, whose maiden name was Bertha Kruger, was born on October 3, 1854 at Drenof, Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Kruger. At the age of 25, she, together with her husband and infant daughter, came to the United States, arriving at LeMars, Iowa, where they spent the first winter. The following year they moved on a farm southwest of Sanborn, where they resided for nearly 35 years. In 1913, her husband passed away, and Mrs. Storm moved into the town of Sanborn, where she had since made her home.

On Sunday, November 19, she became ill with an internal disorder, which with the infirmities of old age, caused her death on Thursday morning, November 23. She attained the age of 90 years, one month and 20 days.

Mourning her departure are the following: three children: Gustav and Emil Storm, living southwest of Sanborn, and Mrs. Marie Harbcrts of Sanborn; one brother, Gustav Kruger, of Los Angeles, Calif; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, also survive. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by four children, three of them dying in infancy, and one son, Arthur, being killed in an accident in 1927.

Services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 p. m. at the home and at 2:15 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church, of which she was a faithful member. Rev. D. E. Weiss preached the sermon, basing his remarks on Luke 2, 29-32, the topic being: "Prepare to Depart From This World in Peace." A trio composed' of Mi's. Milo Ehlers and the Misses Irene and Loraine Steuck, sang two selections, "I'm but a Stranger Here" and "Asleep in Jesus, Blessed Sleep." They were accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Emma Watson.

Interment took place in Roseland Cemetery, with the following serving as pallbearers: Joe Jenison, Wm. Menning, George Brinkert, George Leemkuil, William Storm and William Henrickson. Among the out of town relatives and friends attending the services were Mrs. Dick Smith, and Mrs. Cyril Jenison, Worthington, Minn.; Mrs. Henry Wisser, Wm. Wisser Sr. and son, .William Jr., of LeMars; Louis and Pete Bruns, George; Mrs. Anna Schmidt and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schmidt, Sheldon; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Boynes of Primghar; S-Sgt. LeRoy Reisser of Ft. Logan, Colo., and Miss Verna Reisser, of Rockwell City.

Mrs. Bertha Storm, affectionately known to her relatives and friends as Grandma Storm, passed away at her home here early on Thanksgiving Day after just a few days illness. Mrs. Storm was past 90 years of age and one of the earliest settlers of the Sanborn vicinity. She had lived in or near Sanborn nearly 65 years, and in her home in town for 30 years. She and her husband settled on the farm now occupied by their son, Emil, in 1880 at the time the town of Sanborn was first being settled. Mrs. Storm was an active woman and had always maintained her own home and it was there she completed her long life as she had wished to do.
