MRS. HENRY ROST

Mary Rost, daughter of John and Marie Meehlhause, was born April 12, 1874, in Ashton, Lee County, Ill., and passed away after a short illness, on January 13, 1951, at the age of 76 in the Clear Lake Hospital.

She was united in marriage to Henry Rost of Dysart, Iowa, on March 17, 1892. They lived in Iowa following their marriage until moving to South Dakota in 1919. They resided on a farm l 1/4 miles east of Brandt and upon retiring in 1943 moved to Clear Lake, S. D.

Mrs. Rost was a member of the Evangelical Church and Ladies Aid. She was also a Gold Star Mother of the American Legion Auxiliary of Brandt, S. D.

Preceding her in death were four children: one son, Johnnie J., killed in action in France in world war I; one daughter who died at the age of five; and two in infancy.

She is survived by her widower, Henry, and 10 children: Emma (Mrs. Pete Gieser), Brandt, S. D.; William of Hartley; Alta at home; Minnie (Mrs. Frank Luze) of White, S. D.; Rosa (Mrs. Herman Schultz) of Watertown, S. D; Hilda (Mrs. Charley Nicola) of Brandt, Rudolph of Brookings, S. D.; Evelyn (Mrs. Merle MacArthur) of Sioux Falls; Harvey of Watertown and Dwain of Brandt; also 22 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, four daughters-in-law and five sons-in-law, two sisters and five brothers, and a host of other relatives and friends.
