FRED ADOLPH. SR.
Fred Adolph, Sr., son of Peter and Eva Adolph, was born in Germany on September 14, 1867. He passed away on July 10, 1963 at Hartley, Iowa, at the age of 95 years, 9 months, and 26 days.
His early life was spent in Germany, and it was there that he attended school. He came to America with his parents, and had resided on farms in O'Brien and Clay counties until moving to Hartley, where he spent the remainder of his life. For many years he served as janitor of the Legion Hall. He was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ of Hartley.
He was married to Hannah Brelm on September 29, 1892 at Hartley. They became the parents of three sons: Albert, William, and Fred. Mr. and Mrs. Adolph were privileged to observe their golden wedding anniversary in 1942, and their 66th anniversary before her death in 1958.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers, 1 sister and one grandson.
Survivors include his three sons and daughters-in-law: Mr. and Mrs. Albert Adolph, Mr. and Mrs. William Adolph, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred (F. J.) Adolph, all of Hartley; four grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, one brother, Louis Adolph of Sioux City, one sister, Mrs. Mary Jones of LeMars, as well as other relatives, and friends.
Service were held Friday July 12, 1963 at 2:00 p.m. in the Trinity United Church of Christ with the Rev. Lyle Kuehl officiating. Pallbearers were Hobart Putnam, Freeman Albright, Henry Wieditz, L. G. Newel, Wm. Hesse, and George Dreller.
Interment was made in Pleasant View Cemetery, Hartley, Iowa, with the Baumgarten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
