Services held for Phyllis J. Drake

Phyllis J. Drake, age 56, of Algona, died Wednesday, May 16 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Services were held Monday, May 21, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona.

Pastor Gary Dehnke officiated. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery, Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Phyllis J. Drake was born to Walter and Irene (Fiddelke) Niebuhr on August 22, 1933 at Paullina. She graduated from Paullina High School in 1951 and attended UNI for two years.

She was married to Tom Drake in 1953. While living in Perry she attended Des Moines Community College for two years in the dental assistant program. The couple moved to Algona in 1958. Phyllis worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Monte Grandgeorge before retiring due to ill health.

She is survived by her husband Tom, of Algona; sons, Michael Drake of Lincoln, NE, Steven Drake of Sun Prairie, WI, Paul Drake of Gurnee, IL, Kent Drake of Dallas, TX, Mark Drake, now in Guam; sisters, Silvia Unrau and Mrs. Lee (Marcella) Ewoldt and one brother, Wesley Niebuhr, all of Paullina and nine grandchildren.

She enjoyed her family and spectator sports and potted plants. She also enjoyed watching her boys play football and run in track. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and was active in the church and sang in the church choir.
