Services held for Evelyn Lavonne Syndergaard

Services were held at the First Congregational Church in Peterson on Wednesday, November 24, 1999 for Evelyn Lavonne Syndergaard with Rev. Charles Hall officiating. Elsie Mae Brown was the organist and Andrea Orthmann was the soloist. Hymns sung were "Hymn of Promise," and "His Eye Is On The Sparrow." Casket bearers were Renee Amis-Carter, Rebecca Syndergaard, Corey Brown, Nicholas Thiesse, Heather Brown-Geisinger, Melissa Syndergaard, Jason Brown and Noah Syndergaard. Honorary bearers were Austin Brown, Clayton Geisinger and Danielle Amis. Interment was at Oakland Cemetery in Peterson with arrangements by Warner Funeral Home of Peterson.

Obituary

Evelyn Lavonne Syndergaard, the daughter of Harold and Mildred Barry Triplett, was born March 3, 1931 in Sutherland, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in the Sutherland community where she received her early education and graduated from high school. Evelyn married Kenneth Wayne Syndergaard on December 28, 1949 in Sutherland. Throughout their marriage they lived in the rural Sutherland and Peterson area, and in April of 1991 they moved into Peterson.

Evelyn enjoyed a variety of interests, including attending basketball and baseball games and camping with her family. She loved her Knitting Club and making sweaters for everyone in her family for Christmas. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and having her friends over for coffee and playing cards.

Evelyn was a longtime friend of the First Congregational Church in Peterson. Mrs. Syndergaard passed away at the Spencer Hospital on November 21, 1999, at the age of 68.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Burdell and Merlyn Triplett and two grandsons.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Kenneth: one son and his wife, Bradley and Heidi Syndergaard of Mansfield, Texas; two daughters and their husbands, Carol and Keith Thiesse of Welcome, Minnesota and Debra and Scott Brown of Peterson, Iowa; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister and her husband, Maxine and James Cooper of Paullina, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Donna Tnplett of Sutherland and Irene Triplett of Spencer; one aunt, Mabel Byram of Spencer; her "Dialysis Family" at the Spencer Hospital; other relatives and many friends.
