MILDRED D. CARLSON MILLER

Mildred Doris Stoeckmann Carlson Miller was born June 8, 1919, one fourth mile east of Germantown, Iowa to Ernest and Alma (Kluender) Stoeckmann. She was baptized June 29, 1919 at St. John Lutheran Church. She attended St. John Lutheran School and was confirmed April 9, 1933. She graduated from Paullina High School.

On February 19, 1939, she was married to Carl H. Carlson at St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown. They lived in Germantown. This union was blessed with three children Daniel Lee, Marla Jean and Linda Joann. Her husband passed away November 3, 1973. She worked at various business firms in Germantown.

On May 24, 1986 she married Gordon Miller of Rock Valley, Iowa at St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown. The couple spent their married life in Germantown.

Mildred was a former Sunday School teacher, a Braille worker for many years, a former member of St John Ladies Aid. She enjoyed traveling and visited Europe several times. She enjoyed visiting Colorado, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at the Orange City Area Health System reaching the age of 96 years, 7 months and 6 days.

Mildred is survived by her husband, Gordon of Germantown, Iowa; children, Daniel and his wife, Sharon Carlson of Madison, South Dakota; Marla Anderson-Engbrecht and her husband, Robert Engbrecht of Marion, South Dakota and Linda and husband, Doug Theige of Boncarbo, Colorado; a step daughter, Cathy Miller of St. Peter, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Brett, Michelle, Michael, Matthew, Jamie and Angela; a step granddaughter, ten great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren, also other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; son-in-law, Robert Anderson and her parents, Ernest and Alma Stoeckmann and an infant brother.
