Adolph Meyer Passed Away Monday Morning
Adolph Meyer passed away Monday morning at 3:15 o'clock at the Sioux Valley hospital in Cherokee. He was taken suddenly ill Saturday and entered the hospital that evening where he underwent an operation for an ulcer. He never rallied from the operation and no hope was held for his recovery.
The Meyer family moved into the house on the Erwin Niebuhr farm in the northwest edge of Paullina on March first of last year, where they were employed. Funeral services will be held Thursday at the home at 1:00 o'clock and at the St. John Lutheran church in Germantown at 2:00 o'clock.
Obituary
On Thursday, Jan. 5th, a deeply chastened St. John Congregation will gather in its house of worship for the second time within the week to bury one of its members, Mr. Adolph Meyer, whom the Lord suddenly called out of this life on Monday morning, Jan. 2. The burial rites will be conducted by the Rev. W.H. Jurgens, pastor of the deceased and of the Germantown congregation. On the basis of Romans 8:28, he will show that also a sudden death must work together for good to him who experiences such a death and also for the survivors.
The body will be laid to rest on the Germantown Lutheran cemetery.
On Nove. 28, 1912, he was married to Ella Schultz, and this union God blessed with two children, Vernon and Norman. Mr. Meyer had been afflicted for some years with an ulcer which was sorely aggravated by a fall on the farm place of Erwin Niebuhr where he was employed, on last Saturday. All that medical skill and unselfish attention could do was unavailing. He died at the age of 49 years, 7 months, 15 days.
The survivors include his wife, Ella, his two sons, Vernon and Norman, his aged mother, Mrs. Sophia Meyer of Sioux City; his brother, Otto, his sisters: Anna, Mrs. R.B. Knuth; Ida, Mrs. Fred Boesche, and Ella, Mrs. M. J. Gebhart of Sioux City, and many others of nearkin.
