Services held for Uneva J. Henderson

Funeral services were held on January 5, 1995, at the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home in Paullina, Iowa, for Uneva J. Henderson. She passed away on January 2, 1995, in the Wide View Rest Home, Paullina, Iowa, at the age of 91 years, 6 months and 14 days.

The Rev. Donald Freeman officiated. The casket bearers were Jim Burmakow, Chad Feldotto, Keith Thompson, Ivan Thompson, Tim Axiotis and Bill Thompson. The music was sung by Otis (Jack) Grosvenor with Kay Grosvenor at the organ Interment was in West Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina, Iowa.

OBITUARY

Uneva June Henderson, the daughter of Melvin T. and Matilda Tjossem Thompson, was born June 18, 1903, in Dale Township, O'Brien County, Iowa. She attended school in Paullina and Laurens, Iowa, and graduated from Paullina High School in 1921. She furthered her education in Sheldon, Iowa, and began teaching in country schools.

On April 22, 1922, she was united in marriage to Jennings W. Henderson in Fostoria, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple lived in Fostoria and then in Paullina where Jennings farmed with his father and Uneva continued to teach school until 1931. Uneva worked in Livingston's Store and later when it became the Skogmo Store in 1962, they retired and moved into Paullina.

Her husband preceded her in death on October 11, 1966. She continued to live in the home, later moving into an apartment and on March 15, 1993, she moved to the Wide View Rest Home in Paullina.

She maintained her membership in the Methodist Church but when that disbanded, she took part in the activities of the Presbyterian Church. She was a charter member of the O'Brien County Art Club and was a member of the F.C.N.P.A.
She was known for being a warm, friendly, caring person and interested in all that was around her.

Uneva is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Helen Ihle of San Leandro, California, and Mrs. Ruth Pleiss of Albert Lea, Minnesota; one brother, Robert Thompson of George, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Arthur Henderson of Paullina; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Gwen Thompson of Montour, Iowa, and Mrs. Margaret Thompson of San Leandro, California; a very special friend, Mrs. Maurine Tjossem of Paullina; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Owen Thompson and Clement Thompson; and one sister, Sada Henderson.
