Funeral services for Fritz H. Meyer were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 3,1988, at the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina, Iowa. Rev. Gregory Bock officiated. The honorary pallbearers were Leo Behrens and Wilbur Steinbeck. The pallbearers were Ernest Rickers, Orlin Schmith, Ed Hattermann, Francis Carlson, Ray Appeldorn and Delvin Meyer. The final resting place is Liberty Township Cemetery at Calumet, Iowa, under the direction of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

OBITUARY

Fritz H. Meyer, the son of Henry and Margareth Hueneke Meyer, was born December 11, 1898, near Calumet, Iowa. He attended O'Brien County rural schools. At the age of 12, his father passed away and at this young age, Fritz began working to support his mother and family.

On February 6, 1924, he was united in marriage to Emma Thoms in Cherokee, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple settled on a farm southeast of Paullina where they farmed until moving into Paullina in 1944. At this time, he became a salesman for Pioneer Seed Corn Company and continued to do so until his retirement in 1960. After his retirement, the couple enjoyed traveling, being a part of Paullina Senior Citizens and playing cards. The couple remained in the family home until Fritz entered the Baum-Harmon Hospital in Primghar and passed away on Thursday, September 1, 1988, reaching the age of 89 years, 8 months and 20 days.

Fritz leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Emma of Paullina; one daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Herbert Stuegelmeier of Paullina; two granddaughters and their husbands, Lesa and Joe Ocker of St. Paul, Minnesota and Lynnette and Leroy Hedinger of Gaza, Iowa; one brother; William Meyer of Paullina; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Steinbeck and Emma Behrens and two brothers, Henry and Ernest Meyer.
