The community extends sympathy to Mrs. Anna Popp, whose mother, Mrs. Nick Jensen, a longtime resident of Hartley, passed away in her home on Wednesday, January 4th, at the age of 78. Mrs. Popp had been in the home helping to care for her mother. Funeral services were held Saturday, at 1:30 at Foley's Funeral Chapel and at 2 o'clock in the Methodist church. Interment was in Pleasant View cemetery in the family lot.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock at the Methodist church for Mrs. Nick Jansen, 78, who died early Wednesday following a long illness. Interment was in the Hartley cemetery.

Services Conducted for Hartley Resident

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church for Mrs. Nick Jansen, who died early Wednesday morning of last week. Services were conducted by Rev. Raymond Roloff. Burial was made in Pleasant View cemetery.

Caroline Bertha Ewoldt was born in Scott county, Ia., April 7, 1871. On January 8, 1896, she was married to Nikolaus Jansen. They moved to O'Brien county in 1902 and settled in Grant township near Sutherland. In 1919, they moved to Hartley, where they have since lived. Mrs. Jansen has been in poor health for the past eleven years. Mr. and Mrs. Jansen were the parents of six children; one boy died in infancy, and a daughter, Mrs. Norma Holtz, died in 1944. She is survived by her widower and four daughters: Mrs. Will Trojahn, Hartley; Mrs. Anna Popp, Moneta; Mrs. George Baumgarn, Ocheyedan; and Mrs. Otto Nagel, Hartley.
