John Ebel, 79, of Germantown, father of Mrs. Charles Pingel, of Primghar, passed away Tuesday, September 20th, at the Brundage Nursing home here in Primghar.
Services were held on Friday, September 23 at the home of Mr. William Ebel at Paullina and at the St. John Lutheran church in Paullina at 2 o'clock. Interment was made in the Germantown cemetery.
John Ebel was born at Coopers Grove, Ill., February 26, 1870, the child of Christ and Sophie Ebel. Here as an infant he was baptized in the Lutheran church and later was also received into membership by the rite of confirmation.
In the year 1882, he came to Iowa with his parents and resided on a farm in Caledonia township. October 21, 1894, he was united in marriage with Emelie Hoermann. They made their home in the vicinity of Germantown excepting 6 years which were spent near Brookings, S. Dak. Three sons and one daughter completed the family.
He passed away at Primghar on Tuesday at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 22 days. He leaves to mourn beside his widow, two sons, William of Paullina, and Fred of Sierra Madre, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Anna Pingel of Primghar; one brother, Chris, of Mankato, Minn.; one sister, Lizzie Siebrant, of Stanton, Nebr.; 14 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Pallbearers were William Hellmann, Art Pauling, Henry Inwiehe, Fred Schultz, Jr., William Meyer and Walter Ebel.
