Marvin Reintsma, age 84, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at the Sibley Nursing and Rehab in Sibley.
Funeral Services will be Friday, August 19, 2011, at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon.
Graveside Service to follow at the Roseland Cemetery in Sanborn, Iowa, with Pastor Marcus Moffitt officiating.
Marvin Reintsma was born on May 30, 1927, in Ashton, Iowa. He was the son of Otto and Leatha (Hundley) Reintsma. He lived his youth in Sibley, Iowa, where he attended school. In his youth, Marvin was an avid roller skater and performed with a small company of local performers in Sheldon and area towns. In 1945, Marvin entered the United States Army Air Force. He received his basic training in Sheppards Field, Texas, advanced radio training at Langly Field Virginia, and was stationed in Hiccum Field, Hawaii and Guam. He was honorably discharged in 1947.
He was united in marriage to Patricia Carlson of Sheldon, Iowa, on October 31, 1952, in Sheldon. They lived in Sheldon, where Marvin worked for Land O’ Lakes for 37 years. Patricia passed away on February 1, 1998.
He loved drawing and painting. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Being with family and gathering for picnics and birthday celebrations was special to him.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Sheldon.
Marvin was a dedicated Bible reader, completing the entire Bible eleven times. He was a living example of his Christian faith to his family, and he willingly shared his faith with others. He joyfully looked forward to meeting his Savior, Jesus Christ, face to face. Marvin went to Heaven on Tuesday, August 16, 2011. He passed away at the Sibley Nursing and Rehab in Sibley, Iowa.
Those left to cherish his memories are his children: Vicki and husband Larry Griffioen of Sioux Center, IA, Shawnda and husband Rohn Rutledge of Sioux Center, IA, Stephen and wife Lori Reintsma of Rock Valley, IA; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a sister whom he was very close to: Betty Schilling of Sibley, IA.
He was preceded in death by his wife Pat; 2 daughters: Debra in infancy, and Darla Reintsma; one sister: Margaret Rahfal; one brother: Arthur Reintsma; one granddaughter: Katie
