Mrs. Emma Pedersen, who has been seriously ill, passed away Monday afternoon, Sept. 24th.

Emma Sophia, daughter of Samuel George and Ellen Pedersen, was born July 22, 1881 on a farm in the southern part of O'Brien County, and departed this life Sept. 24, 1934, at the age of 53 years.

Coming with her parents who moved to Archer in 1896, she lived here until March 28, 1900, at which time she was married to Christ Pedersen. Her new residence was at Britt for some years. Later they returned to Archer, where they spent the remainder of their years.

To this union were born five children, two of whom were sons who died at birth. She leaves to mourn two sons, Walter M. Pedersen of Chicago and S. George Pedersen of Archer; one daughter, Mrs. Marie Neiman of Archer; one brother C.M. Pedersen of Archer, six grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Her husband preceded her in death five years ago. Her parents and a sister, Mrs. Marie Sorenson, have also gone on before.

At an early age she was confirmed into the faith of the Lutheran Church. At the time of her first residence in Archer she attended the Christian church, of which she served as organist for some time. She was a good mother, a great home woman, her house-hold duties being to her a privilege rather than a task, and her heart was always in her home. Since moving to Archer the last time she has been in poor health a considerable part of the time. Because of this she has not been able to attend church as much as she would like to have done.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and at 2:00 at the Methodist church, with the Rev. Daily of Cherokee, pastor of the Christian church. officiating. Pall bearers ere L. Stofferan, H.D. Harms, Jens Anderson, Lee McElwain, Geo. Watson, and Christ Sorenson. Internment was made at East Lawn cemetery at Sheldon.

The choir, including Mrs. VerHoef, Mrs. Rowe, Mrs. Benbow and Mrs. Tiemans, sang three selections, "Have Thine Own Way, Lord," "Shall We Gather At The River," and "Sometime We'll Understand," with Mrs. Herbert Saupe at the piano.
