Ella Dorothy Hass Proehl, nee Jones, the daughter of Julius and Ida Horstman Jones, was born at Reinbeck, Iowa on October 12, 1890. She came with her parents to the Sutherland area at age five and had lived here since that time.
She was united in marriage to Henry Hass on January 19, 1910. To this union were born two children. Henry passed away in 1947 and on December 18, 1940 she was united in marriage to Bill Proehl. He passed away in 1966.
Since 1971 she had been a resident of Millie's Rest Home in Sutherland until she passed away on May 29, 1973 at the Baum-Harmon Memorial Hospital in Primghar, Iowa.
She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland, having been baptized on March 8, 1898 and becoming a member on February 22, 1966.
Preceeding her in death besides her husbands were two brothers, one son-in-law, and one great grandson.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Mrs. Ida Jungjohan of Sutherland; one son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Beulah Hass of Arnolds Park, Iowa; 5 grandsons; 10 great grandchildren; 8 step children; one sister, Mrs. Anna Halstrom of Primghar; and many other relatives and friends.
