Paullina Times, Thursday evening, December 2, 1920:
Death of Diedrich Proehl, Jr. Passes away at his parents home at six O'clock Thursday morning after a brief illness.
The grim messanger of death made its appearance at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Diederich Proehl in the north part of town this Thursday morning at the hour of six and summoned from the family circle the youngest child, Diederich Proehl, Jr., aged fifteen years.
The young man was first taken sick the first of the week, complaining of bowel trouble. After securing relief from this, complications set in Tuesday that developed into a severe attack of brain fever. The development of the disease was rapid and the end came at the hour above stated.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock from the Lutheran church. Rev. A. H. Semmann officiating.
