Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Bates of Sheldon celebrated their sixty-first anniversary of their marriage at the home of their daughter, Mrs. D. A. Drury, of Nevada. Mr. Bates, 84 and Mrs. Bates 79, were both born in Watertown, N. Y. They were married there and came to Iowa in 1871.
