Funeral services for Marcia E. Bowman, 96, West Liberty, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, May 24, 1995 at the First Church United in West Liberty, with the Rev. Ralph Farmer officiating. Mrs. Marianne Phelps is the organist and pallbearers are Robert Cline, Steve Hinkhouse, James Keele, Robert Dolan, William Hull and William Williams. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge cemetery.

Mrs. Bowman died May 21 at her home in West Liberty following an extended illness.

The daughter of William and Sylvia Hull Boone, she was born Sept. 12, 1898 in Iowa City. She graduated from Iowa City high school in 1914. She later attended the University of Iowa in the Fine Arts department. She was employed for a time at the Iowa City Telephone Co.

She married Edward (Ted) Bowman Aug. 25, 1928 in Iowa City. After his retirement from the West Liberty post office, they operated a photography studio in West Liberty. She was also a library assistant for many years at the West Liberty library.

Mrs. Bowman was a member of First Church United and she was a member and past matron of the Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Sylvia MacLaughlin, Palm Springs, Calif.; and 3 nephews, Francis MacLaughlin, Malibu, Calif.; Judge William A. MacLaughlin, San Fernando Valley, Calif. and James Carmody, Manhattan Beach, Calif.
