Funeral services for Charles H. Bockwoldt, Jr., 88, Durant, were held April 27, 1995 at the Lacock Bentley Funeral Home in Durant, with the Rev. David Lawson officiating. Eva Lu Murrison was the organist and Henry Bentley sang. Pallbearers were Steven Bockwoldt, Jerry Vahl, Grant Baumann, Gregory Baumann, Jason Baumann, Thomas Caes, Craig Novak, Mark Niles and Terry Duwa. Burial was in the Durant cemetery.
Mr. Bockwoldt died April 25 at the Wilton Care Center in Wilton.
The son of Charles H. and Alvina Horst Bockwoldt, he was born May 23, 1906 in rural Durant. He married Grace A. Ploen Sept. 5, 1928 in Davenport.
Mr. Bockwoldt farmed 3-1/2 miles south of Durant in Muscatine county for his entire life. He enjoyed gardening and tinkering, and could fix almost anything. He was a member of the Crabapple Community Club.
He is survived by his wife; 2 daughters, Dorothy Vahl, Davenport and Dianne (Mrs. Bill) Baumann, Fairfield; a son, Rolland (Gloria) Bockwoldt, Wilton; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Roger in 1942; 2 brothers and a sister.
Memorials may be made to the Durant ambulance.
