Funeral services for Orpha F. Maurer, 73, Wilton, were held April 25, 1995 at the Lacock-Bentley Funeral Home in Wilton, with Father Ted Lawson officiating. Anita Zahniser was the organist and John Watkins sang. Pallbearers were Walter Land, George Freeland, Larry Beard, Paul Kreimeyer, Duane Taylor and Mark Shupp. Honorary pallbearers were Dick, Johnny and Jimmy Watkins, Mike Johnson, Donald Noll and Chuck Atkins. Burial was in the Greenwood cemetery, Muscatine.

Mrs. Maurer died April 21 at Muscatine General hospital.

The daughter of Alfred and Lillian Burr Morgan, she was born Jan. 3, 1922 in Nichols. She married John Robert (Bob) Maurer in November 1961 in Muscatine.

Mrs. Maurer enjoyed crocheting, sewing, fishing, camping and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband in West Liberty; 7 daughters, Jacqueline (Mrs. Walter) Land, Muscatine; Pamela (Mrs. George) Freeland, Wilton; Wanda (Mrs. Larry) Beard, Davenport; Carla (Mrs. Ken) Meitl, Knightdale, N.C.; Shelly (Mrs. Paul) Kreimeyer, Kansas City, Mo.; Wendy Driscoll, Davenport and Carmen Atkinson, Muscatine; 17 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Margaret Pierce, Rochester; Viola Albin, Las Vegas, Nev.; and Sylvia (Mrs. Norman) McQuillen, Tipton. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and 5 sisters.
