Funeral services for Eugene Hearst, 58, Muscatine, were held March 30, 1995 at St. Mary's catholic church, with burial in the Island cemetery.
Mr. Hearst died March 27 at Muscatine General hospital.
The son of Carl Jack and Bernice Stecher Hearst, he was born July 12, 1939 in Muscatine. He married Sally Lichtenwald in 1954 in Muscatine.
Mr. Hearst was employed as a test mechanic for John Deere for 34 years, retiring in 1991. He was also an office shops steward for machinist union at John Deere.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Cuban missile crisis and had the honor of standing guard at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. at the burial rites for President John F. Kennedy.
Mr. Hearst was a member of the Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife; 2 daughters, Lisa Beaham, Wilton and Lori Hearst, Muscatine; a son, Lonnie, Muscatine; a grandson, Garrett; and 2 brothers, Bob Hearst, Cedar Rapids and Tom Hearst, Tipton. He was preceded in death by his parents.
