Funeral services for Marie Giese, 50, Wilton, were held Nov. 23, 1993 at the Lacock-Bentley Funeral Home in Wilton, with the Rev. Ward Holder officiating. Kathy Luethye was the organist and Henry Bentley sang. Pallbearers were Mike Price, Rick Hazelwood, Dave Mortiz, Craig Butterbrodt, Ron Hopphan and David Wade. Burial was in the Oakdale cemetery, Wilton.

Mrs. Giese died Nov. 20 at Mercy hospital in Davenport.

The daughter of Raymond B. and Beatrice Newsome Gulley, she was born April 27, 1943 in Morgan Station, Ky. She married Arthur Giese Nov. 22, 1969 in Durant.

Mrs. Giese once ran a day-care in her home. Prior to that, she was a Wilton police officer for 16 1/2 years, retiring in 1984.

She loved to travel and enjoyed spending her weekends with her husband. She was a homemaker and loved children.

Mrs. Giese is survived by her husband; 6 daughters, Beatrice (Mrs. Mike) Houston, Cherokee; Peggy (Mrs. Eric) Lackore, Beal Air Force Base, Calif.; Lisa (Mrs. Todd) Hunter, Wilton; Jane Marolf, Wilton; Lori (Mrs. Dan) Dawson, Atalissa and Loleta (Mrs. Randy) Machovec, Wilton; a son, Steven, Wilton; her mother, Beatrice Gulley, Aberdeen, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 7 sisters and 2 brothers. She was preceded in death by her father, a brother and 2 sisters.
