Funeral services for Geraldine S. Heither, 75, West Liberty, were held Sept. 14, 1993 at the West Liberty United Methodist church, with burial in the Oak Ridge cemetery.
Mrs. Heither died Sept. 10 at her home, following an extended illness.
The daughter of Charles and Freida Schuessler Carpenter, she was born March 17, 1918 in Lone Tree. She graduated from Lone Tree high school. She married LeMoine Heither Oct. 24, 1937 in Muscatine.
Mr. Heither was a member of the West Liberty United Methodist church and was past president of the United Methodist Women. She was a 50-year member and past matron of Lotus Chapter No. 320 O.E.S., a member of the West Liberty Federated Club and the Cedar Valley Community Club.
She had also been active as a volunteer at University hospitals in Iowa City, completing 1,000 hours of volunteer work. She worked for 22 years in the registration department at the hospital.
Mrs. Heither is survived by her husband; 2 daughters, Arleda (Mrs. Wayne) Wolf and Karyl (Mrs. Tom) Reinsager, both of West Liberty; a son, Thomas Heither, West Liberty; a brother, Marion Carpenter, Iowa City; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and an infant grandson.
