Peter Atilano 1928-1993

Funeral services for Peter A. Atilano, 64, West Liberty, were held Sept. 2, 1993 at St. Joseph's Catholic church in West Liberty, with the Rev. Edmund Dunn officiating. Pallbearers were Harold Dettwiler, Jerry Atilano, Jim Reyes, Tony Reyes, Flavio Atilano and Bill Rockwell. Burial, with military honors, was in the Mt. Calvary cemetery.

Mr. Atilano died Aug. 30 at his home following a heart attack.

The son of John and Sabina Limon Atilano, he was born Dec. 4, 1928 in West Liberty. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad, retiring in 1988.

Mt. Atilano was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church.

He is survived by 4 sisters, Lupe Reyes, Floris; Chris Rodrigues, West Liberty; Mercedes Rockwell, Nichols; and Mrs. Connie Elkin, Hacienda Heights, Calif.; a brother, Flavio Atilano, Muscatine and several nieces and nephews.
