Funeral services for George C. Sterner, 91, Atalissa, were held Aug. 9, 1991 at the Wilton Presbyterian church, with the Rev. Bruce Geise officiating. Burial was in the Oakdale cemetery.

Mr. Sterner died Aug. 7 at Mercy hospital in Davenport.

The son of George and Margaret Johnson Sterner, he was born June 8, 1900 in Cedar county. He married Florence Aye Feb. 8, 1922 in Wilton.

Mr. Sterner was a member of the Wilton Presbyterian church.

He is survived by a daughter, Erma Black, West Liberty; 4 sons, Dean, Reed Springs, Mo.; Raymond and Ronald, both of Davenport and Darel, West Liberty; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, a grandson and 7 brothers.

Memorials may be made to the Atalissa fire department.
