Page 8Heart trouble following a severe attack of influenza resulted in the death of Mrs. Minerva Billings, 310 Stewart Street, at 11:40 o'clock Friday night. She had been in failing health since February but was seriously ill only one week. She was 73 years old. Mrs. Billings, formerly Miss Minerva Thompson, was born August 2, 1849 near Grandview. She first married John Lindsey, to which union four children were born. After his death she married James Billings in January, 1887, he died several years ago. Two children were born to them.
She was a member of the banner lodge, degree of Honor. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. John Phillips, Mrs. J. L. Hubbard, and Mrs. J. L. Smith and two sons, Willard and Murray Billings, of Muscatine; two sisters, Frances of Chicago and Mrs. Laura Fuller of Colfax, Ia., and a brother, Elmer Thompson of Wapello. Funeral services were held at 2:00 o'clock Monday afternoon from the home. The Rev. Mr. Christianson of the Nazarene church officiating. Burial in Greenwood cemetery.
