Funeral services for Carl Harrington, 70, West Liberty, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, July 17, 1991 at the West Liberty Chapel of the Barker Funeral Home, with the Rev. Donald Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge cemetery in West Liberty.
Mr. Harrington died July 14 shortly after he was admitted to University hospitals in Iowa City.
The son of Donald and Martha Thompson Harrington, he was born April 30, 1921 in Iowa City. He married Gwendolyn Hime Aug. 2, 1942 in Las Vegas, Nev. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy. He had been a machinist with Internation Harvestor, retiring in 1973.
Mr. Harrington was a member of the United Methodist church, the American Legion and the VFW.
He is survived by his wife; 4 sons, WIlliam and Dennis, both of Blue Grass; Robert, Wilton and Gary, Bettendorf; 6 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his mother, Martha Mackey, Lone Tree; 3 sisters, Fuchsia Schroeder, Seattle, Wash.; Melda McDermott, Muscatine and Jane Weymouth, Detroit, Mich. He was preceded in death by his father, 2 brothers and one sister.
