Enez Birkett 1904-1991

Funeral services for Enez Birkett, 87, West Liberty, were held June 14, 1991 at the West Liberty United Methodist church, with the Rev. Donald Thompson officiating. Burial was in Oak Ridge cemetery.

Mrs. Birkett died June 11 at Mercy hospital in Iowa City following a one-month illness.

The daughter of Chester and Lena Boldt Beach, she was born Feb. 5, 1904 in Downey, Wash. She taught country school and was also a teacher in the West Liberty schools. She married James Birkett Feb. 8, 1930 in West Liberty. He died in 1965.

Mrs. Birkett was a member of the church and the PEO sisterhood. She was also on the West Liberty library board.

She is survived by a son, Jim, Dawson, Ill.; a brother, Chet Beach, West Liberty; 3 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son.

Memorial donations may be made to the West Liberty United Methodist church.
