Memorial services for John Kennedy Shuger, 88, Wilton, were held June 19 at Lacock Funeral Home in Wilton. His body was donated to science.

Mr. Shuger died June 14 at the Americana Health Center in Davenport.

He was born Jan. 15, 1896 in Wilton to Syrus and Annie Allen Shuger. He married the former Sadie Morrison Oct. 2, 1927 in Cynthia, Ky.

Mr. Shuger served with the U.S. Calvary near the Mexican border and was a 2nd lieutenant in the army during World War I. He was a member of the Muscatine County Farm Bureau, the Wilton Presbyterian church and Masonic Lodge AF&AM.

He worked for many years as a credit manager for Montgomery Ward in Chicago, Ill., retiring in the 1950's. After moving to Wilton, he sold Farm Bureau Insurance. He also served on the Muscatine County Conservation Commission.

He is survived by a sister, Helen Shuger, Wilton. He was preceded in death by his wife and 3 brothers.
