Werner Wittich Called in Death; Rites Thursday [handwritten date: 21 Nov 1944]

Werner Wittich, aged 77 ears, who resided at 1020 Iowa avenue, died at 11:55 p.m. Monday. Death was due to coplications and followed a two weeks illness.

Mr. Wittich was the son of Werner and Anna S. Quants Wittich and was born Dec. 19, 1866 at Muscatine. He was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Hocke, on March 17, 1891 in Muscatine. He was a member of Grace Lutheran church. Mr. Wittich was a pioneer funeral director and was associated with his son, Ralph J. Wittich in the funeral profession. He had been a lifelong resident of Muscatine.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Minnie Wittich, three sons, Elmer, Harold, and Ralph J. Wittich; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Klaffenbach of Muscatine, and Mrs. Susan Otto, of California. Preceding him in death were two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral home Thursday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. David M. Funk, of Grace Lutheran church in charge. Intermet will be in Greenwood cemetery. The body is remaining at the funeral home.
