Funeral services for Mrs. Juhl (Mildred L.) Madsen, 76, were held in West Liberty Nov. 30 with the Revs. J. P. Knepper and Neil Gall officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens, Iowa City. Mrs. Madsen died at her home near West Liberty Nov. 27.

Pallbearers were Merle Muhn, Emil Damm Jr., Richard and Leonard Madsen, Merle Mikkelson and Raymond Nelson. Wendy Brentner was organist and Mrs. Madsen's grandson, Mark Madsen, was the vocalist. A duet was sung by Mr. and Mrs. Steve Brown.

The daughter of Edwin and Nora Markley Lane, she was born in West Liberty March 11, 1906. She lived most of her life in the West Liberty area, having graduated from the West Liberty high school in 1925. She received her BA degree from Iowa State Teacher's college and her MA degree from the University of Iowa. She also did additional graduate work at the University of Iowa.

She was married to John Madsen in Cedar Falls June 2, 1930. She taught school in Crystal Lake, Muscatine, Cedar Valley, Wilton and Davenport.

Mrs. Madsen was a member of the Free Methodist church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Iowa State Education association, the Iowa City East Lucas club and the Iowa City Christian Women's club.

She is survived by her husband, a son, the Rev. Edwin J. Madsen, West Liberty, a stepdaughter, Lorgia Madsen, West Liberty, 3 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother.
