Last rites for Mrs. Caroline H. Bell, 86, were held at West Liberty Jan. 2 with the Rev. Lawrence Carlton officiating. Burial was in Oak Ridge cemetery at West Liberty.

Mrs. Bell died at a Muscatine nursing home Dec. 29 following a heart attack.

The daughter of Valentine and Pauline Swatchsue, she was born at Malcom Nov. 8, 1884 and was married to Fred Wachs Dec. 2, 1900. She later married Robert E. Bell. She was a member of the United Methodist church.

She is survived by 2 sons, Fred Wachs, Rock Island, Ill. and John Wachs, Ray Lake, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Frieda White, Milan, Ill.; 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, 2 brothers and a sister.
