Last rites for Mrs. James (Mary Lou) Winant, 36, West Liberty, were held Jan. 26 at West Liberty. Mrs. Winant died early Jan. 23 after being admitted to University hospitals at Iowa City.

Born May 22, 1933 at Freemont, she was a daughter of Lyle and Lois Triplett Salyars. She had been a resident of West Liberty 5 months having previously lived at Cedar Rapids.

The former Mary Lou Salyers married James Winant June 29, 1952 at Tampa, Fla. She was a member of the Baptist church.

Survivors are the husband, 5 sons, Bruce, Howard, Dennis, David and Lisle and 4 daughters, Sandra, Nena, Eleanor, Tammy, all at home, her mother, Mrs. Lois Slayers, Freemont; 7 brothers, Keith Phelps, West Liberty; Charles Salyers, Cedar Rapids; Lowell Salyers, Rochester; Donald Salyers, DeWitt; Robert Salyers, Davenport; Gary Salyers, Freemont, and William Salyers, West Liberty; a sister, Rosalea Phelps, Davenport.
