ILLINOIS CITY, Illinois - Larry G. Jensen, 85, of Illinois City, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Lutheran Living after a long battle with dementia.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 4, 2022, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Susan Bantz will officiate. Burial will be in Drury Reynolds Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 pm. on Friday, February 4, 2022, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Muscatine Humane Society. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com .

Larry was born on May 30, 1936, in Iowa City, the son of Glenn and Helga Nissen Jensen. He married Mary Jane Sutton and later married Betty L. Harfst.

Larry was a mechanical engineer for BT Prime Mover. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa. Larry was an avid Hawkeye fan. He loved animals and was a huge dog enthusiast. Larry also enjoyed working on cars.

He is survived by his children, Jeff Jensen and his wife, Amy, of Illinois City, Nancy Jensen and her husband, Andy Vaitkus, of Muscatine, and Glenn Jensen and his wife, Angie, of Illinois City; his step children, Roger Strong and his wife, Cindy, of Colorado, Sandy Epperly and her husband, Marvin, of Illinois City, and Ron Strong and his wife, Angie, of Andalusia; grandchildren, Erika Jensen, Emily Jensen, Kelsey Hodges, Dakota Horton, Abby Emery, Wendy Miller, Roxanne Mills, Chad Strong, RJ Strong, Maggie Strong, and Megan Jones; great grandchildren, Bryson, Isla, Evelyn, Emma, Gavin, Molly, Josie, RJ Jr., Bobby, and Tony; his brother in law, Don Dickey; and his nieces and nephews, Todd Dickey, Angie Dickey, Chris Dickey, and Brenda James.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents; both wives; sister, Gloria Dickey, and grandson, Brody Strong.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Wayne, Willie Nelson, Clint Eastwood, Carroll Shelby, Roy Orbison, and Henry Ford.
