Dennis L. Smith, 66, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Trinity Hospital-Muscatine. A Celebration of life potluck will be held on January 29, 2022 from 1:00 - 4:00 P.M. at the Muscatine American Legion. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Dennis’ name. Dennis Leroy Smith was born on September 22, 1955 in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Edwin Leroy and Geraldine Marie (Plank) Stuart. Dennis proudly served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. On August 2, 1985, Dennis was united in marriage to Sheila Shellady in Muscatine. Over the years Dennis had worked as a CDL Truck Driver, General Contractor, Machine Operator, in the Sanitation Department for the City of Muscatine and in the Saw Mill at River City Hardwoods. He was a family man and loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed traveling, fishing, working at the Sawmill-the guys he met there and watching the Chicago Bears.

Dennis will be deeply missed by his wife, Sheila of Muscatine; children, Nathan (Melissa) Murphy of Riverside, Michael (Kassie) Shellady, Allen (Samantha) Smith, Joseph (Mary) Smith and Tiffany Smith all of Muscatine; ten grandchildren and siblings, Kevin Stuart, Patricia (John) Green and Pat (Irina) Mealy all of Muscatine.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alan Smith, Steven Stuart and David Stuart and one sister, Sandra Leonard.
