Irving L. Schlimmer (1925-2021)

Irving L. Schlimmer, 96, of Muscatine, IA; formerly of Davenport, passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Lutheran Living in Muscatine. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 4-7pm at Weerts Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at 10 am at Weerts Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery following the service. Memorials in Irving’s memory may be made to the family.

Irving was born on September 17 1925 to Theodore and Elizabeth Schlimmer in Davenport, Iowa. He enlisted in the United State Army and served during World War II with the infantry and as a MP. Following his time in the Army, Irving went on to be a Fire Fighter with the Davenport Fire Department for 22 years. After his retirement, he went on to teach Truck Driving at the Scott County Community College. Irving was a member of the VFW Post #2153 of East Moline, Moline American Legion Post #246, the Moose Lodge, International Association of Iowa Firefighters, and the ARRP. He loved to play cards, Cribbage, dominoes, Euchre, and spending time with his daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Those left to honor his memory are his daughters LeAnn (Steve) Trevino and Rhoda (Robert) Foster; grandchildren Jedidiah “Jade” (Lucinda) Trevino, Victoria “Tori” True, Cari Ann Trevino, Stephen Allen Trevino, and Josey Lee (Cameron) Trevino; great-grandchildren Isaac, Jr., Elias, Owen, Cameron, Jaron, Kie, Nolan, Caiden, Armani, and Adelyn; and his sister Betty Cox. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Marsha Rae Schlimmer, brother Kenneth Schlimmer, and two sisters Delores and Nola.
