John C. Iossi , age 89, of Walcott, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Cremation Rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 15, 2021 at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant. A memorial gathering will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., prior to the the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Walcott Fire Department Association in his memory.

John was born on September 9, 1932, the son of Lewis and Margrie (Ingram) Iossi in Davenport, Iowa. He graduated from Davenport High School with the Class of 1951. After graduation, John proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Zoann "Zo" Wiegmann on June 16, 1957 at St. John's United Methodist Church, Davenport.

John worked as an Installer and Repairman for Northwestern Bell and later AT&T for thirty three years, retiring in 1985. After retiring, John helped local farmers with fieldwork every spring and fall. He was a member of the Walcott Lions Club for over 40 years, serving as a past president. Prior to his loss of sight, John enjoyed working in his yard, gardening and turning wood, especially bowls and lamps. John also enjoyed listening to Iowa Hawkeye Basketball games.

John will be dearly missed by his wife, Zo of Walcott; two sons, Timothy (Mary) Iossi of Wilton, Iowa and Alan (Marion) Iossi of Rodenbach, Germany; two grandsons, William and Michael Iossi; and one brother, Ken (Miriam) Iossi of Clarksville, Georgia.

John was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Frances Hill; two brothers, Lewis Jr. and Herbert Iossi; and an infant sister, Virginia.
