Kay Sulzberger (1938-2021)

Kay Sulzberger, 83, of Letts, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. A Celebration of Life will be 3:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at the River Center in Muscatine with a time of food and fellowship to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the Salvation Army in memory of Kay. Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com. The Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Muscatine is caring for Kay’s family and arrangements.

Sharon Kay Sulzberger was born May 20, 1938 in Muscatine, the son of George Elias and Goldie Mae (Trout) Sulzberger. He was united in marriage to Susan Marie Lamp in 1958. Kay loved being a farmer and was proud to farm the family farm from 1965 until his passing. In addition, he worked as an mechanic at Pine Motors in Wapello for several years and later at S.J. Smith Welding in Davenport as a welder repair technician. He enjoyed fishing, building antique cars, racing hydroplanes and was the saxophone player in the band, The Collegiates, for many years . Kay loved the water and always had a boat. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family.

Kay will be deeply missed by his sons, Tim (Vicky) Sulzberger of Muscatine, Jeff (Amy) Sulzberger of rural Muscatine, Mike (Lori) Sulzberger of Ames and Sam (Vicki) Sulzberger of rural Muscatine; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Jerry Sulzberger and Lonnie (Lynn) Sulzberger, both of Muscatine.

Kay was preceded in death by his parents.
