MUSCATINE, Iowa - Alberto 'Al' G. Hernandez, 70, passed away after a long courageous battle with cancer, on Thursday, June 10, 2021, surrounded by his family at home.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made in Alberto's honor in care of his wife, Beatrice R. Hernandez. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com .

Alberto was born on March 10, 1951, in Brownsville, Texas, the son of Pablo and Elena Garza Hernandez. He married Beatrice Ramos on June 15, 1972, in Brownsville, Texas.

Alberto retired from Monsanto after 29 years. He was an avid Cubs and Bears fan and loved bowling and going to the casino with his wife. He enjoyed working in his yard and tending to his roses. Alberto was a full time jokester.

He adored his wife; they have been together since middle school and would have been celebrating their 49th wedding anniversary. More than anything, he loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and family.

Those left to honor Alberto's memory include his wife, Beatrice R. Hernandez of Muscatine; his children, Ren Hernandez and his wife, Kristy, of Muscatine, Roel Hernandez of Bettendorf, Albert Hernandez of Bettendorf, Rolando Hernandez of Muscatine, and Amy Qurioz and her husband, Jesse 'Jay', of Muscatine; grandchildren, Tevin, Kaitlyn, Jacenda, Sydni, Dallas, Xavi, Mila, Jett, and Trace; one great grandchild, expected in October; his siblings, Sylvia Moreno of Muscatine, Belinda H. Lopez of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Ricardo Hernandez of Brownsville, Texas; and mother-in-law, Maria H. Ramos of Los Fresnos, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and three siblings, Nellie, Paul Jr., and Rey.
