February 5, 1924-April 28, 2021

MUSCATINE-Rebecca A. Swayze, 97, of Muscatine, passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at Premier Estates. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 3, 2021, at the Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Muscatine. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 2, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Adventist Church School Fund in memory of Rebecca. Rebecca A. Seltzer was born on February 5, 1924, in Muscatine, Iowa the daughter of Frederick and Ella (Goddard) Seltzer. In 1939, she was united in marriage to Raymond Kerr, Sr., and later divorced. In 1956, Rebecca was united in marriage to Robert Hayden who passed in 1964 and in 1970, she married David Swayze who passed in 2004. Rebecca had several occupations, working at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, a farmer's wife, Wiedemann Industries, Muscatine Pearl Works and Rhonda Button Factory. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Rebecca enjoyed going to church, gardening and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren.

Rebecca will be deeply missed by her son, David (Debra) Kerr of Muscatine; daughter-in-law, Jean Kerr of Muscatine; step-children, Darrell Swayze of Colorado and Shirley Sorenson of Colorado; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren; half-brothers, Ellsworth Seltzer of California and Ronnie Seltzer of California and half-sister, Muriel Jorgenson of Washington State.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Robert Hayden and David Swayze; son, Raymond Kerr; step-son, Lloyd Swayze; step-brothers, Paul Roberts and Ronald Roberts and half-brother, Daniel George.
