Funeral services for William Bockwoldt, 86, a resident of Durant for 65 years, were held in Durant, March 24, with the Rev. Willard Garret, of Gloria Dei Lutheran church officiating. Burial was in the Durant cemetery.

Mr. Bockwoldt died March 21 at a Davenport nursing home following an extended illness.

The son of Peter and Christian Bockwoldt, he was born April 25, 1880 in Muscatine county. He married Mrs. Alvena Langmann in 1916. She died in 1930. He married Mrs. Bertha Hoffman Jan. 25, 1938, in Durant.

Mr. Bockwoldt was an honorary member of the Durant volunteer fire department and the last surviving charter member of the Durant Knights of Pythias lodge. He served as town marshal in Durant for a number of years.

Survivors include his wife; 3 step-sons, Cecil and Elmer Langmann, both of Durant and Arnold Hoffman, McAllen, Tex.; 2 stepdaughters, Mrs. Luella Micheel and Mrs. Elenora Kroeger, both of Davenport; a half-brother, Walter Bockwoldt of Moline; a sister, Mrs. Lizzie Ohlsen, Laverne, Minn.; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Three brothers and 4 sisters preceded him in death.
