William Nagel, 73, died June 14 at the West Liberty nursing home after a brief illness.

The son of Peter and Elizabeth Nagel he was born Feb. 16, 1893, at Muscatine. He had been a resident of Durant for 20 years.

He had been employed at the Leese hatchery at Durant before retiring 4 years ago. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the J. L. Shryer American Legion post.

Survivors include 2 brothers, Peter, Davenport and Drew, Rock Island and 2 sisters, Mrs. Anna Erdman and Mrs. Harriett Sample, both of Davenport.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers.

Funeral services were at Durant June 17 with the Rev. J. Barton of St. Paul's Episcopal church officiating.

Interment was at Oakdale cemetery in Wilton Junction. The Durant Legion conducted graveside services.
