NICHOLS-Alan C. Holcomb, 51, of Nichols, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services for Alan will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2021, at the Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Lone Tree. Burial will be in the Nichols Cemetery. Visitation for Alan will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Nichols United Methodist Church in memory of Alan. Online condolences for the Holcomb family may be sent to www.sandhfuneralservice.com .

Alan Charles Holcomb was born on October 5, 1969, in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Thomas "Joe" Benton and Ramona Marie (Mills) Holcomb. He was a 1988 graduate of Muscatine High School. Following graduation, Alan attended Muscatine Community College in the Ag Vocational School and then Kirkwood Community College Truck Driving School. Alan was a farmer his entire life and a truck driver for 24 years, working for L.L. Pelling, Wynn Transport and Shellman Trucking. Alan was a member of the Nichols United Methodist Church and enjoyed going to Sprint Car races, 4-wheeling and helping others.

Alan will be deeply missed by his siblings, Gary Thomas Holcomb and Jane Marie Holcomb, both of Nichols; foster sister, Patricia Green and husband, John, of Muscatine; many nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews; uncles, Frank Holcomb and wife, Yvonne, of Lone Tree, Virgil C. Mills and wife, Debra, of West Branch and Michael G. Mills and wife, Nancy, of Nichols; aunts, Judith A. Bender of Kalona and Nancy K. Burr and husband, Alan, of Lone Tree.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents and an uncle, Timothy D. Mills and aunts, Delpha Wagner and Christine M. Mills.
