Joint funeral services for a well known Wilton man, who formerly was a state representative from Muscatine county, and his wife were held Aug. 19 at Wilton Junction. The Rev. Robert Farr officiated. Burial was in Oakdale cemetery.

Barbara Elizabeth Latchaw died at 12:10 a.m. and her husband Fred A. Latchaw, died at 3 a.m. Aug. 17 both at the Wilton Nursing Home.

He represented Muscatine County from 1936 until 1946. He also served on the board of the Iowa Lawmakers Association, Iowa Historical society, and was a former president and executive secretary of the Oakdale Cemetery association of Wilton Junction. He was a member of the Muscatine Knights of Pythias and a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge. Latchaw was a Wilton realtor.

He was born Dec. 8, 1883 at Barkeyville, Penn., the son of Dr. John R. H. and Zella (Kimball) Latchaw.

Mr. and Mrs. Latchaw were married June 14, 1913, at Wilton. They were both members of the Wilton Presbyterian church.

They are survived by 3 sons, Fred of Seattle, Wash., John of Devon, Penn., and James of Rockville, Maryland, two daughters, Miss Marjorie Latchaw of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Mae Kirnbauer of Downers Grove, Ill., and 14 grandchildren.

He is also survived by 2 brothers, Charles of Defiance, Ohio, and John of Skokie, Ill., and one sister, Mrs. Mae Warner of San Diego, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters.

Mrs. Latchaw was born July 1, 1881 at Wilton Junction, the daughter of Conrad and Barbara Holzhauer.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Clara Lambertson, Long Beach, Calif. Preceding her in death were her parents, 5 brothers, and one sister.
