ATALISSA

Enoch Atkinson was born May 17th, 1832 and died March 19th, 1913, aged eighty years ten months and two days. His birthplace was near Wrightstown, Bucks County. He moved to Morgan County, Ohio, in 1847. He was married to Elizabeth Ann Hart in 1854 and in 1865 he came to Atalissa, Iowa where Mrs. Atkinson died some thirty-eight years ago. He went to Nebraska last fall to live with his eldest daughter, where he died. Five daughters are left to mourn: Mrs. Ann W. Burnett, Strang, Nebraska, Mrs. Franceila Croxen of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Ella Cerker of Mitchell, S. D., Miss Tillie Atkinson of Spencer, Iowa and Mrs. Lucy Stuker of Atalissa, Iowa. None of them were with him when the end came but Mrs. Burnett as he was seriously ill but a brief time. Mrs. Croxen and Miss Atkinson went to Strang where he died but were too late to see him, but were there to come with Mrs. Burnett and son Will, to bring the fathers remains here where the funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church, Friday afternoon, March 21, Rev. C. A. Marshall preaching the sermon. His body was laid to rest beside his wife in the Timberlake Cemetery. A goodly heritage he left his family of a clean upright life and an untarnished name, more to be prized than riches.
