Fred Hanson, 53, Former Nichols Resident, Dies

Nichols – Fred Hanson, 53, former resident of Nichols, died at his home in Iowa City, Friday, as the result of a heart ailment. He had lived in Nichols for many years prior to the time he moved to Iowa City.
The son of Simon and Hannah Hanson, he was born April 23, 1888, in Linn county. He married Miss Mary Hafner of Cranston, in 1916 and one son was born to them, Paul Leroy. Mr. Hanson was a member of the Off Fellows lodge at Iowa City. He was a World war veteran.
Surviving are the son, Paul Leroy Hanson, now stationed on the U.S.S. Little at Charleston, S. C.; two brothers, Chriss of Nichols and H. T. of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Wieneke and Mrs. Dora Nielson, both of Burlington, and several nieces and nephews. His wife preceded him in death in 1933.
Funeral arrangements are pending word from the son who is in the navy. The body was removed to the Oathout funeral home at Iowa City. Burial will be in the Nichols cemetery.
