Harvey W. Burr, 86, West Liberty, died Thursday, March 8, 2007, at Lantern Park Care Center, Coralville, after an extended illness.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2007, at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home, West Liberty. Burial will be at the Nichols Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday, March 10, 2007, at the funeral home.

Mr. Burr was born January 17, 1921, in Fremont township of Johnson County the son of Clarence and Irene (Smith) Burr. He married Belva June Mills of Nichols on April 26, 1947, at the Little Chapel Methodist Church, Muscatine.

He and his wife had two wonderful daughters.

He was a World War II veteran, serving for four years in communications in the U.S. Army Wildcat Division in the Philippines and Luzon Islands. Following the war, he worked as an auto technician for 30 years, retiring in 1986.

He enjoyed building steam engines and helicopters and working on small motors and radio equipment. He liked playing the guitar and singing Country Western music with family and friends.

He had one dog, Bingo, and nine cats, Bunny, Toni, Tootsie, Tippytail, Cuddles, Boss, Hanna, Foxy and Felix and "great-grand-animals" who still survive. His favorite dog, Pooch, is deceased.

Survivors include his wife, Belva June Burr of West Liberty; two daughters, Dorene and Vickie; two sisters, Iona Waite of West Liberty and Ruby Larson of Maryland; and a brother, Lon Burr of Carthage, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Cleo and Chester.
